Pauline "Polly" (Morrison) Hawkes

On August 3, 2018 Pauline M Hawkes passed away peacefully at her home in Fulton, MD. Pauline was born in Gibson County, Indiana on June 16, 1920 as the first of six children to William David and Eunice Hargrove Morrison. Pauline “Polly” worked in a mail photo office until enlisting in the U.S Navy Waves during WWII. She was assigned to Washington DC where she met and married Lester “Les” Hawkes in 1948.  In 1955 they moved to Fulton, MD where they would live together and raise their two sons, until Les passed away, just prior to their 50th wedding anniversary. Along with many other enjoyments Polly especially loved reading, traveling and visiting with friends.

Polly is survived by her two sons, Ken with his wife Donna, and Greg with his wife Elaine; her three grandchildren, Ian, Annie and Emily Hawkes; and three siblings, Bettye Montgomery, Barbara Ford and Jim Morrison along with many nieces and nephews; she is also predeceased by two of her siblings, Margaret LaRoche and Bill Morrison.

Relatives and friends may call at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 12430 Scaggsville Rd, Highland MD on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM where the funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM. Interment to follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
