OEHLKE, Adeline Marie (nee Kass, formerly Kalishek), age 90, of Highland, MD, reached the end of her journey through Alzheimer’s Disease on Monday, July 6, 2020.
The family will receive friends during a socially-distanced visitation from 12:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Donaldson’s Funeral Home, Clarksville, MD. An abbreviated graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, July 20, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fulton, Maryland with Pastor Carolyn Shank officiating.
Born in Menominee, MI on May 5, 1930, Adeline was the third and youngest child of Charles and Leona Kass. In 1952, she married Robert Kalishek and they lived in several Midwest cities before settling in Green Bay, WI. Adeline and Robert had 6 children during their 23-year marriage. In 1976, Adeline moved to Maryland after her marriage to Norman Oehlke.
Adeline worked part-time as Secretary/Treasurer for the International Fabricare Institute Alumni Association in the 1970’s and 80’s.
Flowers and gardening were a passion and Adeline surrounded herself with flower beds at her home in Highland, Maryland. Dancing brought her joy, and she was an active square dancer for many years. For over 30 years, Adeline belonged to a local Homemaker’s Club where she enjoyed spending time with her friends. She also traveled the world with Norman.
Most of all, Adeline loved to sing. A devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, she sang in the choir for over 40 years. Thanks to the love and support of her choir friends, she was able to participate well past the time of her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Adeline attended Bible study for many years, contributed to church events, and also volunteered in the records office.
Adeline was preceded in death by her second husband (of 43 years) Norman and grandson Kurt Kalishek. Adeline is survived by son Calvin Kalishek, son Robert Kalishek, daughter Karen Kalishek, son Charles Kalishek and his wife Nadia, son Curtis Kalishek and his wife Lisa, daughter Kim Kalishek and her partner Bob, grandchildren Nicholas, Clark, Chris, Jason, Tarryck, Chase, and Calista, great-grandchildren Dakota, Emma, Jaida, Finnley and Phoenix, sister Elaine “Dolly” Menor, brother Charles Kass, stepsons David and Kenneth Oehlke, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express our deep gratitude for the wonderful help and care given by Yinka Oduyoye-Alabi and everyone at Brooke Grove Nursing Home. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation on Adeline’s tribute page: https://act.alz.org/site/TR?pg=fund&fr_id=1060&pxfid=634251 or click link below.
