Carl Lincoln Obituary

Carl Eric Lincoln, the Son of Joyce Saunders and Joseph Lincoln, was born June 5, 1940, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies. He  was one of five siblings. In 1967 he emigrated to the United States of America to advance his education. He attended Howard University, in the District of Columbia and obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. Subsequently, he achieved a Masters of Arts in Public Personnel Administration from New York University.

Upon his graduation from Howard University Carl worked as a Banker with Wachovia Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina, before joining the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 1974, as a Bank Auditor. In 2004 he retired from the Federal Reserve as a Senior Bank Examiner after 30 years of outstanding service and numerous performance awards. As proud as he was of the awards for professional excellence, he was even more so of his yearly awards for perfect attendance at the Bank. It was a running joke among his family and friends in New York City, where he lived prior to retirement, that neither rain, nor blizzard could keep Carl from travelling to Buffalo, and Syracuse, from New York City, to examine the books of the Banks in the heart of New York’s Snow Belt.

Needless to say, Carl took all aspects of his life seriously and was a meticulously organized and punctual person. If he said be ready for 9:00 a.m., one knew to be ready for 8:55 a.m. Carl was a world traveler who enjoyed trips to Great Britain, Japan, China and Australia. He also loved exploring the vast United States of America, always returning with souvenirs for friends, family and self. His favorite pastime was watching professional tennis on television. He never missed a broadcast tournament, even rising well before the sun to watch his favorite players in the Australian Open.

In retirement Carl relocated to Clarksville, Maryland for a change of pace from New York City’s hustle and bustle. Though Parkinson’s Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis and other chronic illnesses severely limited his mobility and dexterity in later years, he made every effort to enjoy the company of his family and friends, and listen to his all-time favorite musical artist: Frank Sinatra, "Chairman of the Board" as he called him. However, his absolute greatest joy was manipulating his usually unresponsive fingers on his Apple devices so as to Facetime with his Grandson, Felix.

He is survived by his son Carlye Lincoln, Daughter in Law, Megan McDonnell, Grandson, Felix Lincoln; Sisters, Marjorie Saunders and Claudia Bruno; Nieces, Natasha and Felicia Bruno and countless cousins and friends throughout North America and the Caribbean. He was preceded in death by Joyce Saunders and Joseph Lincoln, parents; Kenneth Saunders, brother and Mary Weekes, sister.

Carl’s quiet, gentle and contemplative spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
