On September 27, 2022, Dolores Ann Khalkhali, 83, passed away peacefully. She was born March 13, 1939 in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania to Edna Katherine Cox and Harry McClellan Forney. Dolores was a graduate of East Juniata High School Class of 1958, attended Bloomsburg State College and earned a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. She began her career in Maryland, while raising her two children. She loved helping her students with hearing and speech impediments during her long career as a speech-language pathologist and always had a funny story to tell about her students. Dolores retired in the early 2000’s. After retirement, Dolores worked at Comfort Keepers where she took delight in visiting and listening to the stories of her clients, whom she adored. She was a world traveler, collected teapots, made new friends wherever she went, and truly enjoyed cooking for anyone and everyone. Wherever she visited, you could be sure to find her in their kitchen whipping up something good. The U.S. was not the only place she called home, as she became a citizen of Canada in the early 1980s, residing in Yorkton and Regina, Saskatchewan, and later Calgary, Alberta. She resided in beach destinations since then, including St. Augustine, FL and Pawleys Island, SC where she made new friends, rode her bicycle and relaxed on the beach at her own leisure.
Dolores is survived by her brother, Paul C. Forney (Linda) of Akron, Ohio, daughter Stephanie Denise Lynch (Michael) of Cinnaminson, NJ, her son James Alexander Mays III and his wife Tamara D Mays, her three grandchildren Jaclyn A Mays, Juliette Alicia Mays and Kristabelle Caitlin Mays, and her two great-grandchildren Jaxson Wayne Layman and Lucille Mae Chance. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, her brother Joseph Forney and sister Louise Hubbert.
Per Dolores’ request, a public memorial service will not be held.
