Martha Gayle Schmitz

Martha Gayle (Reed) Schmitz, age 67, passed away in Columbia, Maryland on Sunday, November 27, 2022.

Martha was born on October 15, 1955 to Mercer G. and Jewell E. (Bramblett) Reed and was raised in Severn, Maryland where she graduated from Arundel High School. Martha spent most of her career working in the service industry before retiring in 2020.

Martha's true passion in life was raising her two sons, her four grandchildren and her eight Papillons. Martha had many hobbies and interests including knitting, gardening, scrapbooking, putting together puzzles, cooking and baking. Martha's loves during her time with us were being with her family, butterflies, sunflowers, Bruce Springsteen and Jack Johnson music, sunshine, pool days and making tasty desserts for her family with incredibly complicated names.

Martha is survived by her husband, Richard Michael; her sons, Michael Tirian and Orion Blu; her grandchildren Eva (18), Grayson (11), Skylar (7), and River (2); as well as her brother Charles Reed and sister Phyllis Stumpf. Martha was preceded in death by her parents Mercer and Jewell Reed; her siblings Baby Reed, Dennis, Bill, Jerry and Sue; and her papillons Pixie, Sammie, Kimber Bo, Dragon, Lulu, Harley, Mr. Wizard, and Bo-Bo.

Memorial visitation and services will be held on Friday, December 9 at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. (12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, Maryland 21029). Memorial visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service held at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited for a reception following the service.
