Penelope "Penny" Gourse

Penelope Ball Gourse (Penny) of Highland, Maryland passed away on May 20, 2023. Penny was born in Baltimore on January 27, 1948, to Donald and Isabel (nee Bittinger) Ball.

She is survived by her loving husband, Stanley Gourse of Highland, Maryland and her sister, Patricia Vreeland of Va. Beach, Virginia. Penny was predeceased by her twin sister, Eleanor Friend, and her sister Jean Millen.

Penny was most happy when in an academic environment. She earned a B.A. from the University of Maryland, a Juris Doctor degree from the D.C. School of Law, and a M.A. in World Politics from the Catholic University. She was a member of the District of Columbia Bar for over 20 years.

In previous years, Penny was an avid and competitive tennis player. Penny met her husband of 38 years, Stan, on the tennis court.

Penny loved dogs. From a very early age, she cared for her special pets, rarely going more than a few months without a canine companion. She is currently being mourned by her beautiful Golden Retriever, Goldie.
