Roland Hugh Miller

Roland Hugh Miller of Columbia, Maryland passed away at the age of 99 years on Sunday October 18, 2020.  He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 27, 1921 to Roland H. Miller and Muriel Ollah (nee Burch).

He is survived by his loving wife of 77 years, Marjorie Elizabeth Weik Miller; his son, Roland H. Miller III and his wife Kathleen Feeney Miller; his daughter Susan E. Rumford and her husband Michael Rumford; and his daughter Teresa A. Miller; his grandchildren Roland H. Miller IV, Carolyn Legal Carpenter, Sarah Legal, and Laura Miller; and 7 great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents, his step-father, Charles Grewe, and his beloved childhood pet, Spot.

He graduated from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, and later enrolled in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Graduating from fighter pilot training as a commissioned 2nd lieutenant, he then continued to serve with the U.S. Air Force Reserves until he retired with the rank of Major.  He worked at ERCO as an inspector early in his civilian career, and retired from his work as a project supervisor at Vitro Laboratories (later Automation Industries) in Aspen Hill, MD in 1986

He was a devoted and much beloved husband and father, who enjoyed working in and around his home, reading, sight-seeing, travelling, attending antique car shows, building model cars, working on his model railroad layout, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Relatives and friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, Maryland 21029 on Tuesday October 27, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday October 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Parish, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, Maryland, 21029. Interment immediately following at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mount View Road, Marriottsville, Maryland 21104.
