Ruby Christine Alexander Beaver, age 74, lost her two year battle against cancer, dying peacefully under God’s embrace at home in Manchester, Maryland on July 29, 2020. Ruby was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina on February 12, 1946 to the late Jack Franklin Alexander and late Kathryn Christel Murray Alexander. Her family moved from Asheville, North Carolina to Maryland in 1950 where she lived in Potomac and Seneca, graduating from Gaithersburg High School in 1965.

Alexander (and his wife Peggy); her sister-law Fran Welton married to Ruby’s late brother James Franklin Alexander (and Fran’s second husband Jack Welton); her six grandchildren Michael James Ormond, Ashley Christine Greene, Aidan Christopher Greene, Alexander Christian Greene, Edward James Beaver, and Kathryn Grace Marie Beaver; and her honorary granddaughter Morgan Wachter.
Ruby was a loving, compassionate, adaptable, and determined Christian wife, mother of three, advocate for the extended family, advocate for children, nanny, preschool worker, secretary, caregiver for parents, friend, and leader in the Mt. Zion Highland, Maryland United Methodist Church Women’s Ministries. Ruby carried out each of these roles on her own as Ed’s demanding job kept him away from home. She loved the beach at Ocean City, Maryland where she and Ed met. She enjoyed reading, Southern style living and cooking, dabbled in sewing projects for her children, and enjoyed sharing collectible 15 inch dolls with her daughters and granddaughters.
